Rockin’ Ram-A-Thon
The Rockin’ RAM-A-Thon on May 22 is a walk to support Roanoke Area Ministries (RAM). Runners are welcome too; however, this is not a timed race. The walk starts at 9:00AM in Elmwood Park in Downtown Roanoke. The entry fee is $15 per walker or runner through May 8. After May 8 the entry fee is $25.
“Who Let the Dogs Out?” You can walk with your leashed dog too! The entry fee for dogs is $5 per dog.
This is a rock n’ roll themed event, so get rocking and roll through this course in support of RAM. There will be two Rock Stops (water stations) along the way playing rock n’ roll to keep you motivated. There will also be music in the park for your listening or dancing pleasure. Walkers and runners are encouraged to dress like their favorite rock star, band, song or instrument. Walk as a team with a Rock Band themed name or dress like Elvis or Lady Ga Ga. Use you imagination and have fun with it. Prizes will be awarded to best Team Theme and Best Costumed Walker/Runner. ALL proceeds benefit RAM. All walkers/runners (excluding dogs) will receive a souvenir Rockin’ RAM-A-Thon T-shirt.
Course: Leaves Elmwood Park and rocks down Jefferson Street to Reserve Avenue. The course then makes a right onto Reserve over to Franklin Road and makes another right onto Franklin. It rolls down Franklin and takes a left onto 2nd Street and over to Campbell Avenue. After turning right, the beat goes on down to the Roanoke City Market and turns right onto Market Street. The final guitar riff (stretch) takes you down Market and along the walkway that leads you back into Elmwood Park.
