Volunteer
At RAM, we are so fortunate to have group of people affectionately refered to as our “priceless workforce.” These souls come to RAM in the morning to volunteer at our reception desk by signing our guests in, help prepare the meal for the day’s lunch in our kitchen and to help serve the guests during lunch in our dining room. We also have volunteers who help us by working behind the scenes in our administrative offices by helping process applications received in our Emergency Financial Aid office.
Barbara Farmer, has been preparing food in the RAM kitchen every Friday for the past nine years. After her husband died, a friend suggested doing some volunteer work as a way to work through the grief of losing someone so dear. Barbara came to RAM at the suggestion of a dining room volunteer and began cooking. She says, “You can see that people really need help,” as she serves food on the serving line. Barbara only takes a day off if there is a family event or something unavoidable. Even then she says, “I just don’t feel right if I don’t come to RAM House.”
